Typo led to dream come true

News Posted: April 11, 2014

‘Special Days’ has been a thriving gift shop situated in The Morris Radbrook Centre in Radbrook, Shrewsbury for longer than most of us care to remember.

Anne Pugh and Ros Graham had always said that if the business came up for sale they would buy it. With no experience of working in retail or indeed owning their own business the two former Social workers felt it was fate when a typo on Google led Ros to the advert, saying ‘Special Days’ was up for sale.

They got in contact with Hatchers Solicitors LLP in October 2013 and the deal was completed in January 2014.The transaction from the former owners who were retiring after a long and happy career with Special Days was smooth and Ros and Anne took over with great enthusiasm in January.

Helen Cowley, Associate at Hatchers dealt with the lease of the property whilst Gina Leighton-Jones dealt with the purchase of the Business.

They said:

‘Anne and Ros have been a pleasure to work with, their excitement and enthusiasm has been contagious and we are so glad that we could help them. It’s a lovely story and they have settled in really well. It is fantastic to see more independent Businesses than ever in Shrewsbury, we wish both ladies the best of luck for the future. ’

The shop stocks a range of beautiful gifts, cards and balloons. Ros and Anne have been thrilled with the footfall since January and are amazed by the amount of helium they are getting through! After a busy Mothers day they are hoping to help local Shrewsbury residents and people visiting from further afield with their selection of locally sourced Easter gifts.
