Hatchers have an extremely active fundraising calendar, holding both internal and external events to raise money for charity.

Each year, we select two charities, nominated by our people, and provide dedicated support and fundraising to them throughout the year.

In 2023, we are supporting Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. You can find information about these important causes below.

Internally, we hold bake sales, dress-down days, staff picnics, and more. Over the past few years, our people have also been involved in larger-scale external events – they’ve walked the Yorkshire Three Peaks, completed various sporting challenges, and organised late night shopping events in aid of our chosen charities.

Beyond our fundraising efforts, we are also proud to support Shropshire-based events, clubs and societies that enrich the lives of the local people.

You can keep up-to-date with our fundraising and community efforts by following our social media channels, which we post to regularly.

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund is Committed to Supporting Cancer Services for the People of Shropshire, Telford and Mid Wales. Started in 1979 by Bernard Lingen, then Mayor of Shrewsbury, and local accountant Frank Davies, the charity has contributed around £ 18 million in today’s prices to improve cancer services in the local area. It is estimated that around 75,000 people have had their cancer treatment and care improved through the impact of the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. A lot of changes have been made in the charity recently, and they have worked on some really exciting projects.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC) operates and funds three air ambulances covering six Midlands counties including Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. In addition, the charity has two critical care cars – one covers Birmingham and the Black Country area, whilst the other attends missions in Worcestershire. Both are operational between 8 am and 8 pm daily.

There is one critical care paramedic on board each of the cars responding to medical incidents including heart attacks/strokes/sepsis and respiratory issues. The charity responds to some of the most traumatic incidents including cardiac arrests, road traffic collisions and sports injuries. The aircraft reaches remote locations to attend to patients unreachable by land ambulance.
