This year’s fundraising efforts began with a dress-down day, perhaps better described as a dress-up day, with Val Edwards making a special appearance as Big Bird. This was followed by a popular in-house jacket potato lunch.
The eagerly anticipated bake-off followed, with a chance for staff to enter sweet or savoury rounds. First up was the free-style savoury scone round, followed by the triple-chocolate brownie technical challenge … and with no cooking times provided this certainly proved to be a challenge!
Alex Lusby impressed everyone with her light mature cheddar, ham hock and wholegrain mustard scones, winning top prize for the savoury challenge. Meanwhile Jan Morgan scooped top prize for the technical with her exquisite brownies, baked to perfection!
The bakes have been on sale since and have raised over £100 so far for Children in Need.

Bake-off judge and charity events organiser Emma Powell commented “It was great to see so many people getting their aprons out for such a good cause and I’m already looking forward to the next one”.
