Shropshire firm Hatchers solicitors advises drivers who have been involved in a road traffic accident to note down the registration number of all the vehicles involved and where possible every drivers’ name and address.
Clare Dalby Personal Injury Associate at Hatchers Solicitors said:
“It is always advisable to gather as much information at the scene of the accident and of all the vehicles involved. It’s even better if you can take a picture of the vehicles involved with visible registration numbers. Quite often those individuals in the accident will deny their involvement so having photographic evidence will help your claim.”
Having the registration numbers will also allow the solicitor to check to see if the vehicles were insured, who the insurers are and the policy number. It is possible for the police to supply these details but there maybe a fee involved and you may have to wait for this information thus delaying the claim or sometimes the police may not be present at the scene of the accident.
Clare continues:
“The way in which solicitors now have to process road traffic accident claims have drastically changed in the last 18 months, it is absolutely necessary that we obtain this information as it maybe not possible to make a claim for compensation without it.”
