Local firm raises over £16,000 for charities

Shropshire business Hatchers Solicitors handed over cheques of £8,257.97 to both Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer charities at a recent presentation at The Lordhill hotel.

Following the death of Alex Wilson, son of one of the partners at the firm, the staff at Hatchers decided to raise money for two charities that Alex keenly supported. The fund raising started with a sponsored cycling adventure round Lake Vyrnwy and was followed up by a massive coast to coast cycling challenge from Workington on the West coast of Cumbria to Tynemouth on the North East coast.
Supported and sponsored by many local businesses the team from Hatchers completed the painstaking 140 mile trek over the Pennines.

Jacinta Walmsley – Partner at Hatchers solicitors and who was the main driving force behind the challenge said:

“We are very pleased to be able to hand over the two cheques to two very worthy causes in memory of a delightful young man, Alex Wilson who supported both charities. We would like to thank all the local businesses that sponsored us on the cycle rides and cheered us on, and thank all our staff who helped raised money through other fund raising events with cake sales and raffles.”
