DATE: 9 April 2008

VENUE: Shropshire Education & Conference Centre, 9.15am - 2pm (includes lunch)

E-commerce is still a young enterprise and full of potential pitfalls for the uninformed or inexperienced. A free e-commerce seminar, to be held at the Shropshire Education and Conference Centre, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, on Wednesday 9 April, aims to arm businesses with e-savvy so that they can trade online with confidence.

The seminar will look at e-commerce from a legal, tax and marketing perspective and has been produced jointly by Hatchers Solicitors, Whittingham Riddell chartered accountants and e-marketing and website design experts Hunter Bevan.

The half-day seminar, which begins at 9.15am and includes lunch, will be broken into three parts. Lawyers Nigel Harrison, Richard Kerry and Stewart Watson from Hatchers will advise on the legal framework for internet trading, website terms and conditions of trade, monitoring of employees’ emails and internet usage, and the litigation dangers of electronic communications. Whittingham Riddell’s Ann Tudor and Ed Williams will consider business and tax issues (particularly VAT) associated with e-commerce to include cashflow and stock management and accounting software. Essential guidance on building and maintaining a successful site will be provided by Neil Bevan of Hunter Bevan, who will cover marketing and technical issues.

‘Break out sessions’ during the morning will give delegates the opportunity to get more information on areas they are particularly interested in. To register for this free seminar, please contact Nigel Harrison on the email address given above.
